It began in the spring of 2020, when school moved into everyone’s living room overnight and the staff room stopped existing. Tammy started calling teachers to ask how they were really doing. They all showed up with a glass of wine — which, it turns out, is the one thing every teacher has in common.
It kept going because the conversations were the honest ones nobody has at a staff meeting. Consider it the first tip: teaching is hard, and pretending otherwise helps no one.
